Who is SWAPP?
The Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines (SWAPP), Inc. is a non-profit association of national government agencies, local government units, institutional organizations, professionals, students, and solid waste practitioners who are committed to the proper management of solid waste for a sustainable environment.
Vision
The Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines (SWAPP) Inc. envisions itself to be a leading non-profit multisectoral interdisciplinary network of solid waste management (SWM) professionals and practitioners who aim is to empower local government units (LGUs), communities and the private sector towards a clean, safe and sustainable environment.
Mission
SWAPP aims to build the capacity of LGUs, communities and the private sector to manage solid waste problems in their respective areas through trainings, technical assistance, research, information exchange, and network-building as well as in providing and undertaking accredited technical/vocational courses on solid waste management with the Technical and Educational Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Objectives
- Enhance the knowledge and skills of SWM practitioners to plan and implement integrated solid waste management programs and projects
- Promote information exchange and develop linkages and partnerships among SWM practitioners
- Advocate for policy reforms to strengthen LGU capacity to implement SWM programs and projects
- Disseminate information on the different technologies but without endorsing any specific technology
- Develop a research agenda on solid waste management as basis for conducting specific research studies
